Indian SUV maker Mahindra is gearing up to launch a new mid-size SUV in the country. The SUV will be built on the new modular NU IQ platform. It is believed to be the production version of the Mahindra Vision S Concept, which was revealed on 15 August 2025 alongside the Vision T, Vision S and Vision SXT. Interestingly, the new SUV is also being called Baby Scorpio. The Vision S Concept’s appearance is straight, strong and inspired by off-road style.
The Mahindra Vision S is now in the testing phase. Recently it was seen testing on our roads with heavy camouflage. The test model features Mahindra’s signature grille with vertical lines. It has round headlamps with LED DRLs, which look similar to the Thar Roxx. Like the concept, it also has a spare wheel on the rear tailgate. Other distinctive features include square fog lamps, lower grille-mounted radar module, vertical wheel arches, larger wheels, flush door handles, flat door panels, square rear glass, vertical and square taillamps and a flat roof.
Interior and features
Spy pictures suggest that the production Mahindra Vision S will get a panoramic sunroof, but it may only be available on the top variant. Many features of the concept are likely to remain, such as the dual screen setup, new three-spoke dual-tone steering wheel, wireless smartphone connectivity, dual-tone dashboard, door trims and seat covers.
Engine and EV options
Mahindra’s new NU IQ platform supports both petrol-diesel (ICE) and electric powertrains. Initially, the Vision S can be launched with petrol and diesel engines. An electric version may also come later. Currently, the company has not given any official information about the launch. But the production Mahindra Vision S SUV is expected to hit Indian roads in 2027.
