Petrol versions of Tata Harrier and Tata Safari will soon go on sale in India. Ahead of the launch, the company has revealed the engine information, variants and features of both the SUVs. Both the vehicles will get Tata Motors’ new 1.5-litre Hyperion petrol engine, which was first introduced in the Tata Sierra SUV. However, this engine has been specially tuned for Harrier and Safari. It will get 170bhp of power and 280Nm of torque.
More power than Sierra
The same engine in the Tata Sierra produces 160bhp of power and 255Nm of torque. That is, the Harrier Petrol and Safari Petrol offer 10bhp more power and 25Nm more torque than the Sierra, while these vehicles are heavier in weight.
Power close to diesel
Interestingly, the power and torque of the petrol version is almost at par with the diesel version. The diesel engine produces 116bhp of power and 260Nm of torque in manual, while 280Nm of torque in automatic. Both SUVs will be offered with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options.
New Ultra variant
The Tata Harrier Petrol will come in a total of 7 variants with Smart, Pure X, Adventure X, Adventure X+, Fearless X, Fearless X+ and Fearless Ultra (new) options. At the same time, Tata Safari Petrol will also be available in 7 variants, which will be Smart, Pure X, Adventure X, Adventure X+, Expressed X, Expressed X+ and Completed Ultra (new) options. The petrol engine will also be available in Dark, Stealth and Red Dark editions.
Features of Ultra Variant
These special features will be available in the new Ultra variant of both the SUVs. It will get Samsung’s 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital IRVM (with in-built dash cam), Dolby Atmos sound, in-built navigation, memory function for ORVM, sliding center console armrest, 65W Type-C charging port, reverse camera Dubin, reverse camera, Dubin function etc. While the Safari Patrol gets a gold and white dual-tone cabin.
