Fans Clash in Amsterdam

Football violence seems to be coming back after Ajax and Manchester City fans clashed in Amsterdam, before their Champion’s League battle on Tuesday 24th October. Twenty five people were arrested after fights in the red light area of Amsterdam. Amsterdam Police said trouble broke out at about 5pm local time, with arrests made for “public violence” offences. The majority of those arrested are believed to be local. The number of Manchester City fans held is not known. Ajax won the game 3-1 and the police had stated “it was calm after the game.” The violence occurred minutes before kick off and the passion of each team took over and it resulted in violence. Extra police had been deployed to the city centre, as the force had expected it “would be busy before and after the match”. Most of the arrests made were from the Ajax fans the number of arrests made to Manchester City fans is unknown.
