Jazmine and I are two seventeen year old students who attend the Billericay School Sixth Form. We are fortunate to have been given the chance to work alongside Skating Panda, an organisation working in social impact communications, for a few days in the hope that we can learn a little bit about how the company works.
On Sunday the 17th of July, we were lucky enough to be given tickets to see the first live show of ‘Born to Shine’, which was created to raise money for Save the Children. We arrived at ITV Studios at 6:45, where we were given wristbands and were taken through to a waiting area and offered free drinks, which was a nice perk!
Although we had an idea of what the show was going to be about we had no idea how exciting it would be to actually be sitting in the audience and be part of it. After getting over a small blip of being ever so slightly star struck (embarrassing!), we really began to enjoy the show and could really relate to exactly why the celebrities were taking part. We thought it made a lovely change to see children teaching celebrities rather than it being the other way round. We were amazed to find that this idea for a programme had never been carried out before. We thought it was such a good way to raise awareness of why ‘Save the Children’ had wanted to reach out to a wide audience to present their message ‘No child born to die’. We had originally wanted West End star Jodie Prenger to win with the amazing rap she performed, but were equally happy when actor Nick Moran won the title.
We were also excited to find out that Diversity were going to be making an appearance, which we felt was a particularly nice touch, towards the end of the show.
To add to the importance of the show, we would just like to say how amazing these extremely talented children were, we could not believe how they performed so well on live TV! Alabo (15 year old rapper) and Sophie (13 year old professional tap dancer) claimed they were not nervous, however we found it amazing how Isata (15 year old pianist) used her nerves wisely, saying how she tries to get as nervous as possible before she performs as it gives her the adrenaline she needs to steal the show! They did such a great job of teaching the celebrities in just three weeks; we just can’t wait to see what they have lined up for next week. Hurry up Sunday!

This is the great weblog for anybody who wants to know about this subject. You know so a lot its practically hard to argue with you (not that I honestly would want…HaHa). You absolutely put a new spin on a subject thats been written about for years. Excellent stuff, just terrific!
