Rihanna. Lady Gaga. Nicole Scherzinger. To name but a few big female singers. Or should that be to name but a few latest sex icons?
In today’s society it seems that you can not look anywhere without seeing a half naked woman selling her body to make money for the media or clothing industry and you can not tune into the TV or the radio without hearing a song which is the singer selling their idea of sex. Is this the culture we want our children growing up in? Is this why we are seeing children becoming more sexualised at a younger age? Our culture needs to get away from being so sexualised and get away from giving women the only real option of getting successful by selling their bodies. It is giving our youngsters the wrong aspirations in life!
Children are missing out on being children. They are getting the wrong idea about sex totally at this ages and what it means to be a girl. Just like Disney films about princesses and princes which wrongly show girls they need a man to live happily ever after, these sexual songs are wrongly telling them men wont like them unless they sell their bodies!
As a society we need to totally change our sexualised culture in order for our children to escape being sexualised at a young age. Many will argue that it is only human instinct to be attracted to sex which is why the media and fashion industries should put on regulations to stop children growing up believing that women are nothing but sex icons and we should see that love is far more important that being lusted over!
