Just arrived a day earlier, in 18 days I have covered 1,292 miles – 2 days were taken up with the ferry and the Black Forest mountains, so in the remaining 16 days I managed 80 miles a day. I feel great at having accomplished what has been a life ambition!
Tomorrow is the formal reception in Vienna, where I will be greeted by Michael Dorstätter, the Austrian marathon runner, will have a photoshoot plus some interviews. It has been emotionally and physically very tiring, but without the best wishes and messages of support I would have found it much harder.
Especially touching were the messages of farewell from the students and teachers at Billericay School and I really cannot thank Sue Hammond and her team enough for the support they have given me. I will try to send a picture or two of the ceremony tomorrow.
Around the 20th May I will be letting Billericay School know on what day I am returning so that I can return to thank everyone there: this will be the last days of May or the first days of June.
Thanks too to my ex-colleagues from university and ex Billericay school students and to all those who have donated to the Red Cross – if you haven’t there is still time!!
From a tired, but very happy Nick

The final celebration gave me the opportunity to thank people and to give a brief outline of the main ideas behind the undertaking.
A very, very warm welcome, thanks to the efforts of Astrid, Hanni and Claire and others at Red Cross, Vienna, very well received by the public there too.
A big thank you for the lovely Red Cross crystal paper weight and CD!

Well done Mr. Ullmann. An immeasurable achievement! On target and on time!
