Bury Tomorrow – Camden Barfly

Scattered fag butts outnumber the amount of people crowding around the smallest pub in Camden town. It’s chilly outside

and it’s finally

starting to get dark, the street lamps highlight crowds of guys dressed in the tightest jeans and baggiest vests; girls don a face full of makeup with hair big enough to be mistaken as an umbrella from a distance.

Inside the atmosphere is buzzing, with merch stands being set up and pints of beer being passed over the heads of adults to the small hands of underage teens. Dan Bates stands by Bury Tomorrow’s stand, his hood covering the majority of his

serious face, but half the people in the room have already recognised who he is. No one approaches him yet; they’re waiting for him to create magic before they adorn him with hands in face, and the promise of every word screamed, whispered on

their anticipating lips.

After the bustle of bags being lugged into the cloakroom, everyone crams into a room small enough to be considered a

reception are for the venue, the wiser of us know better and know that this will be the most intimate and volatile performance they’ll witness this year. Burn The Fleet start the show off, and even though barely half the crowd know who they are, they gain a room full of fans this evening with an amazing and buzzing performance. Shadows Chasing Ghosts are up next and the crowd are getting more and more excited, they put on a blinding performance, and ensure everyone is

psyched up for the band of the evening.

‘You see guys, Bury Tomorrow are here for you. We’re here to help you get laid, cause the ladies you see, they like a bit of soft-‘

Cue Jason with the smoothest and most sensual vocals you’ve ever heard,

‘-but then gentleman, they also like it rough!’

Cue Dan’s beastly hardcore scream, with his microphone turned up to the max, his voices ech

oes round the heaving room of people pushing their way either to the front, or pushing people out the way to clear a shape some what resembling a circle in the middle of the crowd. They open up with ‘Confessions’ and everyone just basically goes mental. The adrenaline is surging and you can taste the sweat of the mammoth men jumping around you.

They tell us the performance was the best of their lives, they look so genuine about it, after the most action packed gig of their year, they end with the crowd chanting out,

‘We haven’t got any more songs!’ they reply, but the crowd keep chanting until they get what they want and the intro to Livin La Vida Loca, starts booming through Jason’s guitar. What a perfect way to end such a perfect evening, everyone singing the words and everyone jumping about. There’s not a single person who hasn’t enjoyed to

night’s performance and the cheers caressing Bury Tomorrow’s ears show just how thankful the crowd are. After pictures and chats, everyone begins the tiresome journey home. If you weren’t there, you missed out, what a night.
