Something, Something, Something Christmassy

Yes, Christmas. It is just around the corner now. What with all the adverts for Delia’s Christmas pudding and the huge reindeer lights on roofs it is no surprise that this will be a good Christmas. However nowadays we don’t care about the meanings about Christmas or the “joy to the world”. All we care about are three things: presents, food and the Christmas specials on TV. It is a sad sight to see that on this wondrous holiday where the whole world gets together for a day of joy, and we end up bickering that we didn’t get the new iPod or Black Ops for the Xbox. I guess it is just human nature to want more electronic goodies instead of world peace. And then when the day is done, everyone is more annoyed because they have a massive hangover or prepare to go their relatives more “festive cheer”. If Scrooge was alive today he would be thinking himself a saint compared to the rest of us. Now grant you, we often do many things to help out others, like giving our old toys to unfortunate children in Africa or giving a homeless man a few quid. And watching the smile rise on the faces of young children sitting on Santa’s lap telling them what they want for Christmas. And the carols and the decorations and the snow and the…you know what? Maybe Christmas isn’t so indulged after all. There are moments of doubt but all in all it is the most wonderful time of the year. So from yours truly, MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
