COCONUT WATER

Coconut water. Is it just a new wave of energy drink, just a phase? Or is it a new health and beauty miracle product-soon to be deemed part of the ‘super food’ category? How can something so cheap and easy to find, be something so beneficial for you-full of all these wonderful benefits and health properties? How can something found at ASDA for 31p in a can be hydrating, metabolism boosting and a saviour for bad skin?

Coconut water is energising and hydrating, containing 15 times the amount of potassium levels found in regular sports drinks, so this can be a good idea for people that spend a lot of time exercising. Tiring car journeys, plane rides, even just a long walk-drinking Coconut water as you go could really make an impact on the way you feel.

As for the medical side of the drink, it has been found to be able to dissolve Kidney stones, which is obviously a good thing, and something I doubt no one would not want to prevent. Used in World War 2 and also in Vietnam, it helped doctors perform emergency plasma transfusions! It can replenish you with minerals after being ill (and boost your immune system for next time) or exercising and this is due to its containment of electrolytes-which are key for again, hydration!

With only 30 calories in this particular brand of Coconut water (Grace), it can be good for people dieting or trying to cut back on calories. Everyone has probably heard of drinking 8 classes of water a day? But when water is so bland, simple and boring, this isn’t really all that easy to do. But coconut water is sweet in taste, and therefore you still get the hydration you were looking for with the water, but also the sugary fix from a soda drink, just minus about 100 calories!

One thing that may interest people that suffer from bad skin, is that this drink claims to control and lower oils produced in your skin, which could save you from having a shiny face! The reason behind this is that excess oils are produced on your face when you are not giving your skin enough moisture-by both moisturiser externally, and water internally. It has also been seen to help fade hyper-pigmentation! Another use of Coconut water is that you could even use it as a toner for your face.

Not only can help with your skin-but your hair too! When used often and regularly, not just as a one of, it can make hair shinier and softer! The word regularly is key though, because it is unlikely for you to actually be able to see any of these differences or benefits straight away!

So if your looking for a boost for your hair, skin and self well being this winter, maybe Coconut water may be something you might want to try! I first heard about it in a magazine, but as I researched further, I found out just how good for you it really can be! Next time I go to ASDA, I think I will definitely try it out, since for only 31p theres not that much to loose if it doesn’t work out. But if it does, I think there is really a lot to gain!
