Formed in 1986 and disbanded in ’93 this band has been cited as one of the most influential and overlooked bands of all time. One could create they created “Loud Quiet”, a feature of musical structure used commonly today. Kurt Cobain has gone on record saying these were the influence behind the Nirvana album Nevermind and the Grunge hit Smells Like Teen Spirit which he said he ripped off of them, the ambient Surf Rock contrasts with the surprisingly forceful aura which creates an environment truly unique to the listener. Unfortunatley The Pixies are overlooked, as their outward appearance has been described as “market unfriendly”. The Pixies deserve a mention as a heavily influential cornerstone of modern alternative rock that has built a cult following over 20 years after there formation, this is a band for anyone that’s ever thought “Where Is My Mind?”.
