Gunning for the Top!

It was only Sunday that Arsenal scraped out a hard-earned 2-0 victory away at Bolton. Then, the Lancastrian team proved a stern test for Arsene Wenger’s Men with a number of chances, which went left shockingly unfinished. In the end however, the Londoners put behind them the stigma of the Reebok Stadium (a ground which has proved a barrier of progress in past seasons). With goals from the in form captain (right) and his fellow countryman, the young Fran Merida, Arsenal found themselves within three points of rivals Chelsea, with a chance to reach the summit of the Premiership on goals scored if they managed to win by two goals in the reverse fixture on Wednesday.
The game started horrifically, conceding two goals within half an hour from Gary Cahill and Martin Taylor (who missed so many chances at the Reebok). However, the comeback was in sight… with Rosicky smashing in a shot from 20 yards, which left Jaaskeleinen dumbfounded in the Bolton goal. Fabregas then burst through the Bolton defensive line to squeeze through a second from a tight angle. With an epic result on the horizon, Vermaelen and Arshavin added late goals to give arsenal the two-goal advantage that they needed to go above their rivals from West London.
What this proves, is that arsenal are now a team who can handle themselves during the infamous run-in to the end of the season that haunts so many arsenal fans, who are constantly reminded that it has now been a 5 year trophy less period for the Islington Based Club.
Who knows, maybe the crown will once again be heading back to the red part of North London come late May, only results will tell as the Gunners face a tough four weeks, with games against 4 of the top 7 (a period which will define history at The Arsenal Football Club).
