Message from Edison House

Our hero, Thomas Edison

Our hero, Thomas Edison

Thomas Edison once said, “Genius is one per cent inspiration, ninety-nine per cent perspiration”.
This quote to me is the essence of all human beings; we all hold aspirations to achieve but the only way to succeed is through hard work and determination. But these fundamental characteristics of human nature are programmed in all of us. If you want to succeed, work for it and you will achieve it.
This is what Edison House has done in the past year. To win any sporting competition, one must apply these basics to achieve a victory. It does not matter if you lose at least you tried your best. Sports Day was won last year by Edison House that shows the talent, inspiration and most importantly the hard work everyone has to do in order to win the title of ‘Champions’. Let’s hope we will win it again this year!
Our House Charity, the NSPCC, is a charity to be proud of as no child in the entire world should be treated in the malicious manner that many millions of children are. All money that is raised by Edison house is always going to a cause that will help all children that have been abused and god-willing, will help end all forms of abuse.
The determination of the NSPCC will achieve their aspiration of Full Stop.
And a last word about Speak Up. We all take for granted that we live in a free and democratically elected country. The right to free speech is one that every person must have as all people have opinions that can help change the course of history. Speak up is an idea that allows any student within the school to put forward their views on any issue which can help to improve school life through an article. This will improve the branches between the students and decision makers in school.
If anyone has an idea or an article that wants to be published, do not hesitate to speak to me.
Remember, if you have an aspiration, work hard and follow your dreams.

    Dear James

I think that your speech is very good and that what you have addressed is very encouraging and motivating. It is people like you and others around the school that give a fine example of 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration. Well done.

    Yours Faithfully
