When outside a cinema Tom Marsh and his two mates Jack Block and Gavin Paoletti were shocked while waiting to see the newest film out at Empire Cinemas in Basildon. The three lads were joking about, having fun and whistling to some music they were playing on a mobile. The shock came when a man in his late 20’s walked past with his girlfriend, Tom was still whistling at this point but was stopped when the by passer shouted “ Stop Whistling at my bird!”. Tom was surprised at this but still replied “What?” The Man then threatened to “Put a knife to your throat!” Tom and his friends were not harmed but what made the man get so angry and fired up. Did he not have much luck with his girlfriend, or did the film contain enough violence to get him in the mood to fight. This got us thinking do films get us in the mood to act like the main characters.

It’s happened to all of us, either when we are 20, a teen or even when you were a child. We have all watched a film and then act like the main character. When you watch a James Bond film you dream of killing the bad guys and sleeping with the girls, and a film like Too Fast, Too Furious you want to drive your car around at 200 mph and drift around corners. But have you ever acted them out in public. When the man came out of the cinemas he may have been looking for a reason to fight because he admired the action in the film. When he thought Tom was whistling at his girlfriend, an opportunity opened too act like the characters in his favourite action films. He didn’t cause any harm at this confrontation but what about the next one.

Due to people being influenced by films, people are harmed on he streets. Filmmakers should have some limitations on films due to how much violent action takes place in films. Also if someone has a record for violent behaviour should they be stopped from viewing violent films?
